Situated in the North End area In Boston, MA, this project focuses on creating a “sport shed” through use of deliberate and rigorous spatial bays. The spatial bays generated are used as structure, long span, apertures, and architectural features one can interact with. These spatial bays produce a circulation and program logic present throughout the building. Programs are stacked from largest to smallest while a horizontal circulation spine runs along the basketball courts and turns into a vertical circulation core for the yoga tower.
The main entrance corner presents itself as an opaque facade - this corner is pulled apart and rotates to naturally fit the site. This facade is used a transitional moment in the project: since only half of the top facade rotates, the rotation tangentially stitches the entrance facade from the horizontal section to the vertical section of the project.
